A Russian Air Force aircraft has crashed in Belgorod Region on its way back to its base airfield, regional governor Vyacheslav Gladkov said in his Telegram channel.
The Russian Ministry of Defense confirmed the crash of the plane and specified that the Su-25 attack aircraft fell down in the Valuy district of the Belgorod region after carrying out a combat mission.
«After performing a combat mission while returning to the airfield in Belgorod region, the Russian Air Force Su-25 aircraft crashed. The pilot died,» the ministry said.
The Defense Ministry spokesman said that the plane fell in an uninhabited area, there was no damage on the ground. The cause of the crash was said to be a technical failure of the attack aircraft.
